When I wasa child, there was a popular Sunday Night TV entertainment show which had a game segment called ‘beat the clock’. One element of which was to solve a word puzzle. A jumble of words needed to be placed in the correct order, so that they made sense. This was done whilst a rhythmic clock beat sound was played to increase the level of anxiety during the task. The catch phrase for this segment was contained in the words of the challenge. The contestant was urged to, “rearrange the words into a well known phrase or saying”. This is the very activity which had occupied me ever since. My quest however had been to “rearrange my Thoughts into well known phrases or sayings”! The puzzles which I commit to the page are the fruits of my daily enfeebled attempts. In common parlance I would describe them as poetry.
